Charlie Bingham Jr. is an internationally known attorney who has won several awards for his legal work. He's currently an attorney at Microsoft. His life may look all rosy with all the good things he has going for himself but there are no roses without thorns.
The struggles that he faced throughout his life and up to this moment have taught him some valuable lessons which helped him pull through really difficult times. Some of those lessons are: God loves you, you have been fearfully and wonderfully made, and God can use you for His purpose no matter how ratchet you think you are! These are some of the lessons he shares in his latest book, “The Death of Mr. GoodGame: My Struggle to Get Sober”. Check out www.thedeathofmrgoodgame.com for more on the book!
He was born and raised on 27th and Chambers, one of the roughest neighborhoods in the ghetto of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He spent significant time on 27th and 23rd and Chambers which are located in the infamous Milwaukee which is the most segregated city in America and the statistically worse place for African American males in the US today. The “deuces” where he grew up with his family are known as a crime-ridden neighborhood with gang violence, drugs, and pervasive poverty.
Against all odds of his childhood and environment, he received a Bachelor of Science degree from Jackson State University in 2002, received a Master of Arts in Teaching from Morgan State University in 2005 and is a 2008 Howard University School of Law graduate.
He first started his legal career as an associate at a Washington, DC law firm where he focused on intellectual property, mergers and acquisitions, and government contract transactions. He then moved to serve as an Attorney-Advisor at the U.S. Department of the Interior, Office of the Solicitor – Branch of Acquisitions and Intellectual Property providing legal counsel and litigation support in a variety of management and administrative legal issues involved with the federal procurement process. And finally, to Microsoft as a member of Microsoft’s Corporate and External Legal Affairs U.S. Regulated Industries team. He's worked at McDonald's, been a janitor, fresh fruit and vegetable picker, valet, teacher, and grocery store bagger over his lifetime.
He's now an active Christian at the Renaissance Church of Christ in Atlanta, Georgia where he helps in leading its college ministry. He's happily married to his wife, TeErra Bingham, and is blessed with two lovely children, Charlie Bingham III and Carlie Bingham. He's passionate about sharing his story to all in the hopes that they will find the unwavering love of God even in the midst of their trials and troubles - similar to how he did.
